Dr. Jasmine T. Agnew, DHPE, MHIIM, RHIA, CPHIMS to Join American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs and Professional Credentials
(CHICAGO, IL – June 19, 2024)– Dr. Jasmine T. Agnew, DHPE, MHIIM, RHIA, CPHIMS
will join AHIMA as the Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs and Professional Credentials, effective July 1, 2024. Dr. Agnew brings a wealth of experience and expertise in the field of health informatics and information management.
A distinguished educator and advocate for health equity, Dr. Agnew is known for her groundbreaking work in addressing inequities in healthcare Information Technology. Her research focuses on advancing healthcare, academic equity, and stakeholder involvement in curriculum development. Dr. Agnew has a proven record of accomplishments promoting competency-based healthcare education and workforce development at both local and national levels.
In her new role, Dr. Agnew will spearhead the academic strategy for the creation of HI-specific higher education curricula. She will identify and serve the needs of the HI academic community and lead the development of workforce initiatives aimed at supporting future practitioners and elevating their credentials. Dr. Agnew will collaborate with industry leaders to identify and plan for future competencies in the profession, ensuring that higher education delivers relevant curricula to meet evolving industry needs.

Dr. Agnew holds a Doctor of Health Professions Education degree from Logan University, along with multiple industry-related credentials and certifications. She is a graduate of prestigious institutions such as the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Dr. Agnew's passion for educating the HIT/HIM/HI community about emerging technologies and their impact on patient care sets her apart as a visionary leader in the field.
